WINGS WITH ANGRY SAUCE

PREP TIME: 15 MINS | COOK TIME: 45 MINS | TOTAL TIME: 1-HR | YIELD: 2-3 pounds

It’s game day tonight, and everyone is excited! It’s one of the most look forward nights. I have prepared separate activities for the kids while the adults will surely enjoy these wings with angry sauce! It’s the most requested game day appetizer. The chicken is roasted until crisp and tossed in a mind-blowing hot sauce made with a few simple pantry ingredients combined with harissa with sugar and honey. It’s the perfect pair for your favourite beer to offset the heat.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 tablespoon sesame oil

2-3 pounds chicken wings

2 tablespoons canola oil

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

1 tablespoon chilli powder

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon each sesame seeds and water

1/2 teaspoon minced jarred garlic

1 teaspoon each rice wine vinegar, soy sauce (gluten-free if needed), and minced jarred ginger

Cooking spray

2 1/2 tablespoons harissa paste or to taste

HOW TO MAKE WINGS WITH ANGRY SAUCE

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 450 degrees F.

Step 2: Using foil, line a large rimmed baking sheet and grease with cooking spray.

Step 3: On the prepared baking sheet, lay the wings out and drizzle with canola oil. Sprinkle the wings with salt and pepper, then toss to coat. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the wings for about 45 minutes or until cooked through and crisp, turning halfway to ensure even cooking.

Step 4: Add the rest of the ingredients to a large bowl and mix well. Adjust the seasoning according to taste.

Step 5: Toss the wings in the sauce once done roasting.

Step 6: Serve and enjoy!

Tips:

To save time, you make the sauce in advance and just store it in the fridge overnight. When ready to use, bring the sauce to room temperature, then toss with the wings.
