There is a funny story behind these biscuits. My kid taught me the recipe for this Sugar Donuts from Canned Biscuits she learned from school. And she’s seven!
My daughter loves to cook and she enjoys their Home Economics class so much! She’s my pride and I am so proud of her. She said she wanted to be a chef and a veterinarian when she grows up.
We love these biscuits to the bone. Making these is the perfect bonding moment. She cut the holes, fry them, and coats them with sugar or powdered sugar. Serve these warm and enjoy every bite. Make sure to make a bunch because everyone will not stop until these are all gone. If you have not tried these biscuits, you should! A tasty work or after-school snack that’s super easy to throw together.
Ingredients
8 ounces can buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups cooking oil
How to make Sugar Donuts from Canned Biscuits
Step 1: In a small skillet, heat the cooking oil.
Step 2: Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
Step 3: Separate the biscuits and cut an inch hole in the middle using cookie water or a water bottle lid. Set the cut-out holes aside for cooking.
Step 4: Into the hot oil, drop 3 to 4 biscuits and cook until golden brown. Turn the biscuits over and cook the other side. And do the same for the rest of the holes.
Step 5: Once cooked, take the holes from the oil and coat them in the sugar mixture. Transfer the biscuits to a different plate to cool.
Note:
You can coat the biscuits with powdered sugar if you’d like.
