SMOTHERED CUBE STEAK

by Rebecca June 6, 2020

Steak anyone? But this, not your typical steak. This might be one of the best steak recipes I have ever tried! Steaks are perfect the way it is but if you were to smother it with a nice thick and delicious gravy, well, it’s beyond perfect! I usually eat this dish with mashed potatoes. It complements well with the gravy and steaks. I have simplified the steps for you so you’d have no trouble in cooking. All you need to do is to get the ingredients and follow. I am so excited for you! I hope you love it!

INGREDIENTS

2-3 Cube Steaks

3 Cups Sliced Mushrooms

1 Small Onion, halved and sliced (1/2 a Large)

Kosher Salt

Black pepper

Texas Cajun Seasoning

Flour

2 cups Chicken Stock

1/4 teaspoon thyme

Vegetable Oil

HOW TO MAKE SMOTHERED CUBE STEAK

Step 1: Prepare and wash the vegetables.

Step 2: Place the cube steaks on a large plate. Season both sides of the steaks with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of Texas Cajun Seasoning. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and coat both sides of the steaks lightly.

Step 3: Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Add 1/2 cup of oil and wait for it to become hot. When the oil is hot enough, slowly put the cube steaks. Cook for 3 minutes on both sides. Remove the steak and place it on a clean plate.

Step 4: Remove the rest of the oil from the skillet and leave about 2 tablespoons. Toss in the onions and mushrooms. Stir until cooked through or until the onions are translucent and mushrooms are golden brown. Season with a pinch of pepper and salt.

Step 5: Add 2 tablespoons of flour and stir continuously until the vegetables are fully coated.

Step 6: Pour in the chicken stock and stir until all ingredients are blended. Turn the heat to medium-high. When the sauce is thick, turn off the heat.

Step 7: Put the cube steaks back and coat it well with the gravy. Serve and enjoy!
