INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef
8 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine
1/8 black pepper
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. chicken stock or water
1 to 2 tablespoons sambal, chilli garlic sauce to your taste
1 teaspoon corn starch
2 tablespoons cooking oil
2 bundles of green onions, cut into 2-inches long pieces
Sesame seeds
How to make Mongolian Ground Beef
Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic, Shaoxing wine, and black pepper. Set aside.
Step 2: Add the soy sauce, sugar, chicken stock, sambal, and corn starch in a small mixing bowl. Mix well and set aside.
Step 3: Add the oil and the beef mixture in a heated large wok or skillet over high heat. Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes, breaking the beef down until there is no moisture left and the beef is crispy.
Step 4: So the corn starch won’t sink on the bottom, give the sauce mixture a final mix. Then, around the wok, pour the sauce and continue to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, stirring well until the sauce has thickened.
Step 5: Before turning the heat off, toss in the green onions. If desired, garnish with sesame seeds, then serve with warm cooked rice. Enjoy!
