Light, fluffy condensed milk bread

by Rebecca November 5, 2021

This is a super impressive and great condensed milk bread perfect to add to any meal. Light, fluffy, and easy to whip up using just a few simple pantry ingredients!

Ingredients

Bread:

.25 c. softened butter

.25 c. sweetened condensed milk

Egg

2 tablespoons sugar

3.25 c. All-purpose flour

1 c. milk

2.25 teaspoons instant yeast

1 little teaspoon salt

Glaze:

3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk

3 tablespoons softened butter

How to make Light, fluffy condensed milk bread

Step 1: Fill a large mixing bowl with fresh or long-life milk. Add a cup of condensed milk and egg followed by the sugar and yeast. Mix well.

Step 2: Add the salt and flour after the ingredients are sifted. Combine well until you form a stretchy dough.

Step 3: Toss the ball of dough in the softened butter. Once you see the yellow from the butter, it’s done.

Step 4: Knead the dough on a lightly floured counter until smooth and elastic. Then, form the dough into a ball.

Step 5: Into a lightly greased bowl, place the dough and gently roll it around to coat all sides with oil. Tent the bowl using a kitchen towel or paper towel. Allow the dough to sit for an hour or so until double the size.

Step 6: After the dough has risen, lightly punch the dough. This will squeeze the air out. On a cutting board, flatten the dough, then slice it into two long halves.

Step 7: Roll and flatten each half until smooth and flat. To ensure the dough bakes up just right, pinch and seal the edges. Lastly, slice the dough into seven cuts, then place the pieces into a 7 x 4-inch parchment paper-lined loaf pan. Tent the pan and allow the loaves to rest for at least 45 minutes.

Step 8: Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180 degrees C or 350 degrees F.

Step 9: Before placing the pan into the preheated oven, wipe the loaves first with an egg wash. Bake the loaves for about 20 to 22 minutes.

Step 10: To make the glaze, whisk the rest of the 3 tbsp softened butter with 3 tbsp condensed milk until you have a bright cold glaze.

Step 11: Remove the loaves from the oven when done and allow them to cool before brushing the glaze across the tops.
