Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 1 hr | Total time: 1 hr 10 mins | Yield: 10

Enjoy traditional dessert at home with this very moist, flavorful, and buttery cake. It is easily made with only a few pantry-friendly ingredients like eggs, butter, milk, sugar, and a few more. Pair this soft and rich homemade vanilla pound cake with a cup of your favourite tea for an afternoon delight.

Ingredients

2 large eggs (lightly beaten)

175 grams or 3/4 c. softened butter

225 grams or 1 3/4 c. Plain / All purpose flour (sieved)

2 tsp baking powder

2/3 c. or 150 ml Milk

150 grams or 3/4 c. regular sugar

1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

1/4 tsp salt

How to make Homemade Vanilla Pound, Loaf Cake

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 170 degrees C or 325 degrees F. Ready a baking tin, grease, and line it.

Step 2: Cream the butter and sugar until pale light.

Step 3: To the mixer, gradually add the beaten eggs, beating on low speed. Add a spoonful of the sieved flour if the mixture begins to curdle or split, but keep adding the eggs until all of them are combined. If needed, add a bit of flour. Then, add the vanilla extract.

Step 4: While keeping the mixer on low speed, add half of the milk with half of the flour. Add the rest of the milk once combined, then gently fold in the rest of the flour until mixed.

Step 5: To the prepared loaf tin, transfer the cake mixture. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour to 1 hour and 5 minutes. The cake is done once a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.

Step 6: When done, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the tin before transferring to a cooling rack. Let the cake cool completely, then serve or store in an airtight container.
