How to make Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Rolls:
Step 1: Place the warm milk, sugar, and melted butter in a large bowl. Whisk to combine. Note that the mixture should be warm with a temperature between 100 to 110 degrees F. Over the mixture, sprinkle the yeast. Combine and sit for at least 5 minutes or until the mixture starts to froth.
Step 2: Add 4 cups of flour to the mixture. Using a wooden spoon, stir until the dough comes together. With a clean towel or plastic wrap, cover the dough and set it aside in a warm place for at least an hour or so to double in size.
Step 3: Grease 2 round cake pans with butter.
Step 4: Uncover the dough, then add in the baking powder, salt, and ¾ cup flour and stir to combine. Knead the dough on a well-floured surface until it just loses its stickiness. If needed, add more flour. Remember that the dough should not stick to the surface.
Step 5: Into a large triangle, roll the dough until it is about half an inch thick and the corners are defined and even.
Step 6: Over the dough, evenly spread the softened butter. Do the same with the brown sugar and cinnamon. Into the butter, lightly press the mixture.
Step 7: To make a log, roll the dough out, pinching the seam to close. Into 14 equal parts with about 1 1/2-inch thickness, divide and cut the dough.
Step 8: Into the prepared cake pans, transfer each of the 7 rolls, lightly pressing the rolls. Using a clean towel or plastic wrap, cover the pans and allow the rolls to rise for at least 30 minutes in a warm place.
Step 9: Meanwhile, prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.
Icing:
Step 1: Add the cream cheese and butter to a medium-sized bowl. Beat to combine before adding in the powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat again, then add in the milk. Whisk until the icing is smooth. To reach your desired consistency, add more milk. Set aside.
Step 2: Uncover the pans. With melted butter, brush the rolls and place them inside the preheated oven. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
Step 3: Over the cinnamon rolls, evenly drizzle the icing. Serve and enjoy!
