CANDIED YAMS RECIPE

These Candied Yams would be your kids’ new favourite! It’s so simple, easy & quick to whip up using just butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and yams. A classic holiday side dish that never fails to impress everyone around the table. Incredibly amazing, you’ll be sure to leave with no leftovers!

These candied yams always remind me of my granny. She’s my most favourite person. I learned how to cook because of her. She inspires me to try new things and taught me to not be afraid of trying out new things. She gave me this very simple recipe. It has been part of our family since I can remember. Our holiday is not complete without these candied yams. I am pretty sure we all have our fair share of memories with these delicious candied yams.

Candied yams are one of the easiest side dishes you can make. It’s a classic recipe that even our aunts, moms, and grandparents know how to whip up. I already shared this simple recipe with lots of my friends and colleagues. These candied yams are a lifesaver. They are super easy and simple to throw together using just a few pantry ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

½ c. (1 stick) butter

1 c. brown sugar

2 (15 ounces) cans of yams

½ teaspoon Salt

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

HOW TO MAKE CANDIED YAMS

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.

Step 2: Start to strain the yams off, then place them into a small baking dish.

Step 3: Into small chunks, cut up a stick of butter. Sprinkle the chunks of butter all over the baking dish followed by the brown sugar and salt. On top, drizzle the vanilla extract.

Step 4: Put the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the yams for about 25 to 30 minutes or until they are tender.

NOTE:

Feel free to double even triple the recipe if desired.
