Ingredients
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 1/2 c. mashed bananas (about 3 medium bananas)
1 large Egg (room temperature)
1/4 c. unsalted butter (melted)
1/4 c. canola oil
1 c. light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c. large semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. walnuts (chopped)
How to make Best Chocolate Banana Bread
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Using a nonstick baking spray, grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan and set it aside.
Step 3: Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sea salt in a medium bowl. I suggest sifting all the ingredients or if short in time whisk until everything is incorporated. Set aside.
Step 4: Add the bananas to a large bowl. Using a fork, mash them, making sure that no large chunks are left. Add in the slightly cooled melted butter, oil, vanilla, and eggs, then stir until incorporated.
Step 5: Add in the brown sugar and whisk until smooth.
Step 6: Into the wet ingredients, add the dry ingredients. Using a spatula, gently fold and remember not to overmix. Then, stir in 3/4 cup of chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
Step 7: Into the prepared pan, transfer the batter and sprinkle with the rest of the 1/4 cup chocolate chips.
Step 8: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 50 to 60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread comes out clean or with a few crumbs. To check if the bread is done or needs more time to bake, begin checking after 50 minutes and every 5 minutes from then.
Step 9: Take the pan out of the oven when done and onto a wire cooling rack. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Easily remove the bread from the pan by running a knife around the edges of the bread and let it sit there until slightly warm.
Step 10: Slice and serve. Enjoy!
