Beef and Broccoli

This extra tender beef and crisp-tender broccoli in a simple, but superb tasting sauce are a million better than takeout! Make this right at the comfort of your home in under thirty minutes and serve over rice for an easy, quick, and filling meal perfect for busy days.

Ingredients

1 tbsp canola oil

1 1/2 lbs flank steak thinly sliced against the grain

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp Water

1 tbsp corn starch

3 c. broccoli florets

1/4 tsp baking soda

Sauce:

6 cloves garlic minced

1/4 c. soy sauce low sodium

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp fresh ginger grated

1/2 c. beef broth

2 tsp cornstarch

1 tbsp toasted sesame oil

How to make Beef and Broccoli

Step 1: Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain. Combine 1 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tbsp water, and 1/4 tsp baking soda in a large bowl. Add and toss the sliced meat until completely coated, then set aside.

Step 2: Mix the sauce ingredients (garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, ginger, beef broth, cornstarch, and toasted sesame oil) and set aside.

Step 3: Add 1 tbsp canola oil (or your preferred oil) in a hot large skillet. Add the flank steak in batches and cook for about 2 minutes over medium-high heat until the bottom has browned. Stir and cook further until the beef is has browned. This takes another 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 4: To the pan, add the broccoli and sauce. Stir to coat. Put the lid on and let the broccoli cook for approximately 3 minutes or until bright green crisp-tender.

Step 5: Remove the pan from the heat when done and give everything a final stir before serving.

Notes:

You can replace the oyster sauce with a tbsp of each soy sauce and brown sugar.

Keep in mind to slice the flank steak against the grain.
