Apple Cider Donut Cake

This cake is must-try! Satisfy your cravings for sweets with this Apple Cider Donut Cake!

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

8 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature

1 large Granny Smith apple about 8 ounces, peeled, cored, and roughly chopped

1 1/2 c apple cider

1/2 c milk at room temperature

2 1/2 c flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground mace

3/4 c sugar

1/2 c packed light brown sugar

3 Eggs at room temperature

1/4 c oil

1 teaspoon vanilla

For the Sugar Coating:

6 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Step 1: Position the oven in the centre of the oven.

Step 2: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.

Step 3: Apply cooking spray to a Bundt pan.

Step 4: Add cider and chopped apples in a medium saucepan.

Step 5: Place the pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high, then allow the mixture to boil until the apples are fork-tender. This will take about 12 minutes.

Step 6: Remove from the heat and allow the apples to cool for at least 5 minutes.

Step 7: Use a spoon to mash the apples, then add in milk. Stir until well mixed.

Step 8: Add flour, baking powder, nutmeg, mace, baking soda, and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined.

Step 9: In a separate large mixing bowl, add the sugar, butter, and brown sugar. Beat for about 3 minutes until the texture becomes fluffy.

Step 10: Add in eggs gradually and beat every addition.

Step 11: Add oil and beat for 1 more minute or until well blended.

Step 12: Add flour mixture and apple mixture gradually into the large mixing bowl. Beat for about 30 seconds at medium speed until well combined.

Step 13: Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan.

Step 14: Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean after inserting it in the middle.

Step 15: Remove the cake from the oven and let it sit on a wire rack to cool at room temperature.

To Make the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

Step 1: In a small mixing bowl, add the cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.

Step 2: Sprinkle the mixture over the cake and spread it evenly.

Step 3: Allow the cake to cool for 1 hour at room temperature.

Step 4: Serve and enjoy!
