The Most Amazing Chocolate Cake

by Rebecca September 3, 2021

Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 35 mins | Total Time: 45 mins | Servings: 16

This cake is the most amazing chocolate cake I’ve made in my entire existence! It’s a dreamy cake – incredibly moist with the perfect crumb.

INGREDIENTS

Chocolate Cake:

butter and flour for coating and dusting the cake pan

3 c. all-purpose flour

3 c. granulated sugar

1 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tbsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 1/2 tsp salt

4 large eggs

1 1/2 c. buttermilk

1 1/2 c. warm water

1/2 c. vegetable oil

2 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting:

1 1/2 c. butter softened

8 ounces cream cheese softened

1 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder

3 tsp vanilla extract

7-8 c. powdered sugar

about 1/4 c. milk, as needed

How to make The Most Amazing Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Cake:

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F. Grease three 9-inch cake rounds and dust it with flour, tapping the excess off.

Step 2: In a stand mixer, add the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat in low speed until mixed. Now, add the eggs along with the buttermilk, warm water, oil, and vanilla. Continue beating on medium speed for a few minutes more until smooth.

Step 3: In the prepared pans, evenly divide the batter. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.

Step 4: Remove from the oven when done and place the cake on wire racks. Allow the cake to cool for at least 15 minutes before turning the cakes out onto the racks to cool completely.

Step 5: Once the cake is completely cooled, frost it with your fave frosting.

Chocolate Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting:

Step 6: Place the butter and cream cheese in a large bowl, then beat until fluff. For best results, use a hand mixer or stand mixer. Beat in the cocoa powder and vanilla extract until mixed.

Step 7: Add the powdered sugar, beating 1 cup at a time. For a spreadable consistency, add milk. The consistency you are aiming for is very thick.
