The BEST Hamburgers in the Oven – With a TRICK!

by Rebecca September 27, 2021

PREP TIME: 5 MINS | COOK TIME: 20 MINS | OPTIONAL TOASTING: 2 MINS | TOTAL TIME: 27 MINS | SERVINGS: 4 burgers

This recipe makes all the difference. I have been making hamburgers in the oven, and I would not have it any other way! With a simple trick, you are guaranteed the BEST melt-in-your-mouth hamburgers!

INGREDIENTS

4 hamburger buns

4 beef patties (I use 1 pound of ground beef to make 4 patties)

4 slices yellow American cheese, if desired

salt

pepper

For Toasting (optional):

aluminium foil

How to make The BEST Hamburgers in the Oven

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees. Using non-stick cooking spray, grease a baking dish.

Step 2: With salt and pepper, generously season one side of the burgers. In a baking dish, put the burger patties, spice-side-down.

Step 3: On each hamburger, sprinkle extra salt and pepper. If desired, you can use your preferred seasoning.

Step 4: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the hamburgers for about 25 minutes. You can add a slice of burger on each burger and bake for a minute more or until the cheese has melted.

Ooey Gooey Cheese & a Toasted Bun:

Step 5: On a bun, build each burger. With aluminium foil, completely wrap each burger. Return in the oven and resume baking for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese has melted and the bun is warm and toasty.

Step 6: Remove from the oven when done and serve the hamburgers with your favourite toppings. Enjoy!

NOTES:

For a steamy, soft yet toasty bun, the extra toasting step is required. Wrap the burgers in aluminium foil and bake for a couple of minutes more to melt the cheese and toast the buns.

If serving a large crowd, prep the burgers ahead, wrap them in aluminium foil, and keep warm until serving.

I suggest you try fine grain Himalayan and Peppercorn Medley for the pepper. They make so much difference!
