THE BEST CREAMED SPINACH RECIPE

by Rebecca October 30, 2021

PREP TIME: 5 MINS | COOK TIME: 15 MINS | TOTAL TIME: 20 MINS | YIELD: 8 Servings

This recipe is the perfect copycat of my favourite steakhouse-style Creamed Spinach. It is incredibly easy and quick to throw together using only pantry ingredients. I love how extra creamy and thick this is! It is guaranteed the best-creamed spinach in town. Whip this up in under twenty minutes using fresh or frozen spinach. If using fresh spinach, you can steam or cook it down until it has a cooked and thawed texture. You’ll love this simple side dish. It is not only delicious but also budget-friendly and low carb for those watching their carbs.

INGREDIENTS

2 tbsp butter

6 large cloves garlic, minced

1 medium yellow onion, diced

1 c. heavy cream

4 ounces cream cheese

1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese

1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese

salt and pepper, to taste

3 (10 ounces) bags frozen chopped spinach

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST CREAMED SPINACH

Step 1: Following the package directions, cook the spinach in the microwave. When done, remove from the microwave and carefully squeeze the excess water using a cheesecloth, a tea towel, or a colander. Set aside.

Step 2: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the onion and saute until clear.

Step 3: To the skillet, add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Now, add the cream cheese and cook, stirring until melted. Next, add the heavy cream and continue to cook for additional 2 minutes. Stir in the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Step 4: Into the cream sauce, fold in the spinach. Cook for a minute more just to reheat the spinach.

Step 5: When done, serve the creamed spinach right away. Place the leftovers in an airtight container and store them in the fridge for up to a week.
