2 lbs lean ground beef
1 onion diced
1 jalapeno seeded and finely diced
4 cloves garlic minced
2 ½ tbsp chilli powder divided (or to taste)
1 tsp cumin
1 green bell pepper seeded and diced
14 ½ oz crushed tomatoes canned
19 oz kidney beans canned, drained & rinsed
14 ½ oz diced tomatoes with juice
1 ½ c beef broth
1 c beer
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp brown sugar optional
salt and pepper to taste
How to make The Best Chili
Step 1: Mix ground beef with 1 1/2 tbsp chilli powder.
Step 2: Cook the ground beef, onion, jalapeno, and garlic in a large pot until the ground beef is brown. Then, drain any excess fat.
Step 3: Add in the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then decrease the heat. Simmer for about 45 to 60 minutes, uncovered, until the chilli has reached the desired thickness.
Step 4: Top the chilli with cheddar cheese, green onions, cilantro, and with your favourite toppings.
Combine ground beef and 1 ½ tablespoon chilli powder.
Notes:
For this recipe, feel free to substitute beer with extra broth.
Use any ground meat you preferred.
