The Best Chili Recipe

PREP TIME: 20 mins | COOK TIME: 45 mins | TOTAL TIME: 1 hr 5 mins | SERVINGS: 8

Loaded with beef and beans, this Chili recipe is the best! Packed with so much flavour, you sure will love this to the bone. And this is so versatile you can add any of your favourite toppings. Serve this with cornbread or buttermilk biscuits for the perfect meal.

Ingredients

2 lbs lean ground beef

1 onion diced

1 jalapeno seeded and finely diced

4 cloves garlic minced

2 ½ tbsp chilli powder divided (or to taste)

1 tsp cumin

1 green bell pepper seeded and diced

14 ½ oz crushed tomatoes canned

19 oz kidney beans canned, drained & rinsed

14 ½ oz diced tomatoes with juice

1 ½ c beef broth

1 c beer

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 tbsp brown sugar optional

salt and pepper to taste

How to make The Best Chili

Step 1: Mix ground beef with 1 1/2 tbsp chilli powder.

Step 2: Cook the ground beef, onion, jalapeno, and garlic in a large pot until the ground beef is brown. Then, drain any excess fat.
Step 3: Add in the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then decrease the heat. Simmer for about 45 to 60 minutes, uncovered, until the chilli has reached the desired thickness.

Step 4: Top the chilli with cheddar cheese, green onions, cilantro, and with your favourite toppings.
Combine ground beef and 1 ½ tablespoon chilli powder.

Notes:

For this recipe, feel free to substitute beer with extra broth.

Use any ground meat you preferred.

Here are some toppings ideas: sour cream, red or green onion, cheese, jalapenos, cilantro, avocado, and lime wedges, tortilla chips.
