Tennessee Onions

This is an exceptional yet super easy dish! Tennessee Onions are very delightful made with sweet Vidalia onions. An amazing casserole with simple ingredients, loads of cheese, and fresh herbs for that superb result that you’ll crave again and again! If you have not tried this yet, you should soon! This dish is life-altering!

Ingredients

4 tablespoons stick unsalted butter

2-3 whole Vidalia onions (or any sweet onion)

½ c. Parmesan cheese

1 c. mozzarella Cheese

Fresh oregano or other herbs for garnish

1 c. sharp cheddar cheese the better quality, the better taste

Garlic salt to taste

Pepper to taste

How to make Tennessee Onions

Step 1: Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish using non-stick cooking spray and heat at 350 degrees.

Step 2: After slicing the Vidalia onions into 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices, separate the rings. In the prepared baking dish, lay the rings and sprinkle with about 1 tsp garlic salt and half tsp pepper.

Step 3: Into pats, cut the butter and put the, around the top of the onions.

Step 4: Over the onions, spread the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Top everything with the grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 5: Place the baking dish in a 350 degrees oven and bake for about 30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown.

Step 6: Take the dish from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Serve garnished with some fresh herbs such as oregano, chives, or thyme. Enjoy!

Notes:

These Tennessee Onions are great over hamburgers, steak, or as a side dish. You can even serve this as a burger option for a vegetarian take.

In even thickness, cut the sweet onions, then separate the rings.

Slice the onions to about half-inch thickness.

For this recipe, you can use any sweet onion.

Make sure to use the best quality cheese.
