2 cups flour
1 tablespoon + 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups sour cream (I would not suggest subbing light)
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
4 tablespoons soft butter
How to make Tender Homemade Sour Cream Biscuits
Step 1: Place the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a medium-sized bowl. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 2: In spoonfuls, add the sour cream along with oil and mix using a spoon until just moistened.
Step 3: Massage the dough with your hands to get all the dry stuff on the bottom of the bowl and knead it eight times on a floured surface.
Step 4: Using a floured rolling pin, roll the dough to as thick as an 8” circle. Then, divide the dough into six biscuits with a biscuit cutter or a floured glass. Out of the remaining dough, you can get two more pieces. Just bunch the remaining dough back together, knead a little, roll, and slice.
Step 5: Transfer the biscuits to a foiled and buttered grease round metal pizza pan. Or use a cookie sheet instead.
Step 6: On top of the dough, add small pats of butter or spread on top (if the butter is very soft). Be careful not to deflate the biscuits when spreading the butter.
Step 7: Pace in the preheated 425 degrees oven. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 8: When done, remove from the oven and place the rest of the butter on top.
Step 9: Serve the biscuits warm alongside homemade jam or honey and with more butter. Enjoy!
