1 16-ounces box pasta shells
1 15.5-ounce jar salsa
1/2 c. shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
1 1-ounce packet of taco seasoning plus 1 c. water or milk
Optional: Add 1/2 c. cream cheese sour cream, or half and a half for a creamier sauce
How to make Taco Pasta Casserole
Step 1: According to package direction, cook the pasta. Drain when done and set aside. You can use a Dutch oven to make this using one pot!
Step 2: Brown the meat in a Dutch oven or cast-iron skillet. Drain the excess grease once done. To the drained meat, add the cooked pasta. Note that if a Dutch oven or cast-iron skillet is not available, simply move everything to a casserole dish.
Step 3: Over the meat, sprinkle the seasoning packet and pour the water on top, then add in the salsa. Stir to mix before topping with the shredded cheese.
Step 4: Place in a 400 degrees oven and bake for about 18 to 22 minutes until the cheese has melted and the sauce is bubbly.
Step 5: When done, remove from the oven and enjoy with your favourite taco toppings.
