Taco Pasta

This delicious Taco Pasta is my favourite comfort food. With only a few simple ingredients cooked in a single skillet, this dish is one of the easiest and quickest pasta recipes I have ever tried!

Stringy cheese, mouthwatering taco flavours in a homemade meat sauce with shell pasta all in one plate for a scrumptious and filling weeknight dinner perfect for the whole family! Make this from scratch without the fuss, and feel free to sub the pasta with elbow macaroni or use large pasta shells, use minced turkey or chicken meat in place of ground beef, or spice up this taco pasta by adding some red pepper flakes or hot sauce.

Ingredients

3 c. small shell pasta

1 lb ground beef, lean or extra lean

1/2 c. onions, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced, optional

1/4 c. taco seasoning

2 c. water

1 c. tomato sauce

1 c. shredded cheese, cheddar, or mozzarella

fresh cilantro, chopped, optional

How to make Taco Pasta

Step 1: Over medium-high, heat a large frying pan. Once hot, add the ground beef to the pan, stir, and cook until brown. Drain the grease from the pan once the meat is no longer pink. Then, add in the onions and garlic (optional) and fry for about 2 to 3 minutes until the onions are translucent.

Step 2: To the ground beef and onions, stir in the tomato sauce, taco seasoning, water, and pasta.

Step 3: Cover the pan loosely, adjust the heat to medium, and continue to cook for about 5 to 10 minutes while stirring occasionally until the pasta is cooked through.

Step 4: Take away from the heat before stirring in the cheese and fresh cilantro if desired.

Note:

In a small bowl, combine the following to make your taco seasoning.

2 tablespoons chilli powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne

1/2 teaspoon oregano

1/2 teaspoon paprika

2 teaspoons ground cumin

2 teaspoons salt
