SWEET AND SPICY GLAZED CHICKEN THIGHS

by Rebecca October 19, 2021

Enjoy moist, tender chicken thighs with huge flavour coated in a sweet and spicy glazed. With very little effort, you can throw this together in a breeze using just a few simple ingredients. Serve this with roasted beans and potatoes for an easy and quick meal perfect for the whole family!

I love this easy dish since the first time I tried this. It’s has been a huge favourite at home. The simple sweet and spicy glaze helps keep the chicken thighs nice and smooth. By the way, this glaze is also perfect to use on pork chops! But in my opinion, it pairs so well with chicken thighs.

If you have not tried this yet, you should! It’s life-altering. Also, if you want more heat, feel free to add extra cayenne pepper. Or if you do not like the heat, you can leave out the cayenne and use smoked paprika instead.

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon olive oil

1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs (4-5 pieces)

1/4 c. brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

freshly cracked pepper

HOW TO MAKE SWEET AND SPICY GLAZED CHICKEN THIGHS

Step 1: Place the brown sugar, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and some freshly cracked pepper in a small bowl. Stir well until combined. For this, I used 10-15 cranks of a pepper mill.

Step 2: On a cutting board, lay the chicken thighs. Pat them dry with paper towels, then sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture. Make sure to generously coat both sides of the chicken thighs.

Step 3: After heating a large skillet over medium heat, drizzle the olive oil. Swirl to coat the bottom. Now, add the coated chicken and cook for approximately 5 to 7 minutes per side or until completely cooked and the sugar turned into a deep brown glaze.

Step 4: When done, remove from the heat and serve the sweet and spicy glazed chicken thighs hot. Enjoy!
