How to make Sweet and Spicy Coca-Cola Chicken Wings
To make the wings:
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees.
Step 2: With the metal rack, top 2 baking sheets. And with foil, line a third baking sheet.
Step 3: Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel after taking them out of the package. Place the wings in a bowl with olive oil and toss to coat, then generously sprinkle the wings with kosher salt and black pepper. On the prepared baking sheets, arrange the wings giving each piece an inch space between and on all sides.
Step 4: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the wings for about 45 minutes to an hour until crisp and golden brown. Optional: You can broil the chicken in the last 3 to 5 minutes of baking time.
Prepare the sauce:
Step 5: In a medium saucepan, whisk the Coca-Cola, brown sugar, tomato paste, and garlic over high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, decrease the heat to a simmer. Add the hot sauce along with paprika, and salt. Stir and allow the sauce to simmer for approximately 5 to 10 minutes, stirring often until the sauce has thickened. Adjust the taste and add extra salt or hot sauce according to your preference.
Step 6: Take the chicken from the stove once ready. Roll the pieces of chicken in the sauce, then transfer them to the prepared foil-lined baking sheet.
Step 7: Adjust the oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake the wings for about 7 minutes to set the glaze. Remove the wings from the oven when done and serve right away with extra sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy!
