Spaghetti Pie

Prep time: 20 mins | Cook time: 30 mins | Servings: 8

This is another easy recipe to try. A freezer and family-friendly Spaghetti Pie that you can easily throw together in a cinch! Packed with layers of cheese and hearty meat sauce. This is the perfect spaghetti pie to serve to a crowd. Feel free to double or triple the recipe and keep it in the freezer for a quick meal at any time.

INGREDIENTS

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey

1/3 c. Parmesan cheese

1 jar pasta sauce or you could use tomato sauce (1 can), just add Italian

2 tbsp butter

1/2 c. chopped onion

garlic salt

6-8 oz. spaghetti is about a half a package

1/2 c. mozzarella cheese or Italian blend

1 c. cottage cheese or ricotta cheese either one is great

1/4 c. chopped green pepper, optional

How to Make Spaghetti Pie

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Add the onions and green peppers and continue to cook until the onions have softened.

Step 3: Pour in the pasta sauce and season with garlic salt. Stir well.

Step 4: Following the package directions, cook the spaghetti. Drain when done and let the noodles cool for a little.

Step 5: To the warm spaghetti, stir in the margarine, Parmesan cheese, and eggs. Pour the spaghetti mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and shape it into a crust. On top, spread the ricotta cheese. Evenly add the beef mixture over the cheese and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

Step 6: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes.

NOTES:

Easily double or triple this recipe. If planning to freeze, do not bake the casserole. Completely cool and cover. Keep in the freezer until ready to bake.

Thaw in the fridge overnight and bake for about 40 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees, covered.
