I love this recipe to make authentic Southern Style Biscuits. This is how my granny made biscuits, and we will not have it the other way. In my opinion, these biscuits are a million better than any other biscuits I’ve tried. Make sure to pair it with sausage gravy for a complete experience.
I got this recipe from my mom. My granny passed it to her. This recipe has been with our family for generations. It’s incredibly easy to throw together using only three ingredients! And the secret is using White Lily flour and cold Crisco shortening. I make these regularly because our week will never be complete without these biscuits.

I have been making these biscuits since I can remember. And because this is fast to make, I can make this even on my busy schedule. The kids love these biscuits so much, so I make sure to whip up a big batch. I normally form these biscuits in different shapes, it’s more fun that way.
Ingredients
2 cups white lily self-rising flour
1/4 cup Crisco shortening
2/3 cup whole milk
How to make Southern Style Biscuits
Step 1: Grease a 12-inch skillet using a smidgen of Crisco.
Step 2: Mix the flour and Crisco using a pastry knife. Add the milk. Using a wooden spoon, mix until a moist ball is formed.
Step 3: On a floured surface, place the ball and roll to your desired thickness. Note that these biscuits will not rise much.
Step 4: Cut the biscuits to your desired size using a biscuit cutter or drinking glass. With a dab of water, brush the tops of the biscuits.
Step 5: Place in a preheated 350 degrees oven and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes. For brown crunch tops, broil the biscuits.
