Lately, I have been obsessing with one-pot meals. From my all-time fave sausage peppers with rice to this incredible one-skillet meal. This Smoked Sausage and Rice is not only filling but it’s made with only a few simple ingredients and ready in less than thirty minutes! A friend shared this easy recipe with me when we got together a month ago. I quickly fell in love and have been making this constantly. This amazing dish is my family’s new favourite and go-to. If you are always looking for an easy and quick dinner idea, this is a must!

Always a hit around the dinner table, this tasty dish is a star no matter what! Feel free to use spicy sausage if desired, which I normally do because a little spice goes a long way! Busy days? Don’t worry, this fantastic dish got you covered!

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 pound Hillshire Farms Smoked Sausage sliced ¼” thick

2 c. broccoli florets

1½ c. cooked brown rice (I use minute rice to save time)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 c. shredded cheddar cheese

How to make Smoked Sausage & Rice One Skillet Meal

Step 1: In a preheated large skillet, add butter and olive oil. Melt over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the sliced smoked sausage to the skillet and cook for approximately 5 minutes until the sausage starts to brown.

Step 2: Add the broccoli to the skillet, then adjust the heat to low. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, stirring often.

Step 3: Now, add the cooked rice and season with garlic powder and onion salt. Stir well before adding in the shredded cheese, stirring until the cheese has melted.

Step 4: Take the skillet off the heat when done and serve. Enjoy!
