This easy slow cooker recipe is an Italian inspired dish with sausage, peppers, and onions. A delicious meal to serve to family, friends, and gatherings. A no fussy and no-fail recipe that you can make all year round! Enjoy this any time of the year with some Italian bread or your favourite baguette to not waste all that sauce! Or cover this with grated parmesan and serve over pasta or for hand-held variety, enjoy this on sub rolls. Wonderful, right?
I have been making this since I can remember and this never fails me, not once! My kids love this so much and so does my husband. Ingredients
1 can (28 oz) tomato puree
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp coarse black pepper
1/4 tsp dried crushed red pepper
2 lbs Italian sausage, hot or mild
2 medium green bell peppers, halved, seeded, and sliced
1 medium yellow bell peppers, halved, seeded, and sliced
1 large sweet onion, sliced
¼ c sliced basil leaves

How to make Slow Cooker Sausage, Peppers & Onions
Step 1: Place the tomato puree, garlic, sugar, oregano, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
Step 2: Into the slow cooker crock, add the tomato puree mixture, sausage, peppers, and onion. Stir well.
Step 3: Cover and set the slow cooker on high. Cook for 3 to 4 hours. Or 7 to 8 hours in low.
Step 4: Before serving, stir in the basil. Enjoy on sub rolls or over some cooked pasta.
