Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

This Asian-inspired, sweet and savoury slow cooker chicken dish is another must-try! You’ll love the tasty ingredients combined to make this easy Honey Garlic Chicken. Prep this within minutes, throw everything in the slow cooker, and let your favourite kitchen appliance do the rest. Serve this crazy delicious honey garlic chicken over cooked rice garnished with some sesame seeds, scallions, and/or cilantro for a simple and quick meal perfect for your entire family!

Ingredients

3 pounds Chicken Legs or Thighs

4 c. Cooked Rice

2 tablespoons Ketchup

1/4 c. Water

1/2 c. Honey

1/3 c. Soy Sauce, low sodium

1 teaspoon Ginger, grated

2 tablespoons Onion, finely minced

4 – 5 lg. Garlic Cloves, pressed or finely minced

2 tablespoons Corn Starch

3 tablespoons Cold Water

1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes

Chopped Scallions for Garnish

Sesame Seeds for Garnish

2 teaspoons Kosher Salt

1/2 teaspoon Pepper

How to make Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

Step 1: Grease the inside of the crock, then set the setting to low.

Step 2: Season all sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.

Step 3: Pour the water inside the crock. Add the chicken, then put the lid on.

Step 4: Place the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, ginger, garlic, onion, and red pepper flakes in a 2 cup measuring cup. Mix well until combined, then pour this over the chicken. Set to cook for 2 1/2-4 1/2 hours on low, checking after 2 hours. Keep in mind that the cooking time varies depending on the size of the chicken and your slow cooker.

Step 5: Transfer the chicken to a plate when done and cover to keep warm. Adjust the slow cooker setting to high.

Step 6: Combine the cornstarch with cold water until well incorporated. Stir this to the liquid in the crock.

Step 7: Return the chicken to the crock and set to cook for about 10 to 15 minutes on high until the internal temperature of the chicken reached 165 degrees.

Step 8: Garnish with some sesame seeds, scallions, and/or cilantro, then serve the chicken over cooked rice. Enjoy!
