Mac and cheese, I cannot think of any better word to describe it but perfect! This homemade Mac and Cheese with Sausage and Bell Peppers made in a skillet come together pretty quickly. One of my go-to weeknight meals that my whole family loves.
This is perfect because of a lot of reasons; easy, requires only a few ingredients, super delicious, family-friendly, easy on the wallet, and the list goes on! This recipe is pretty straightforward and hard to mess up.
I made this every week, even bring some to work for a quick lunch. So good, not at all fussy, this will be your family’s new favourite!
Ingredients
1 pound pork sausage
2 bell peppers, diced
8 ounces elbow macaroni, dry
18 ounces marinara sauce
18 ounces of water
1/3 c. half and half
1/3 c mozzarella cheese
How to make Skillet Mac and Cheese with Sausage and Bell Peppers
Step 1: Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until brown. Once done, drain off the excess fat.
Step 2: Into the sausage, add the diced bell peppers, dried elbow macaroni, marinara sauce, and pour in the water. Bring this to a boil.
Step 3: Decrease the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes while stirring occasionally until the macaroni is tender, covered.
Step 4: Add in the half and half and sprinkle with cheese. Mix well.
Step 5: When done, remove from the heat and cover. Allow the cheese to melt for about 2 minutes or so.
