This is another of my favourite one-skillet meal that my family love! Homemade Skillet Mac and Cheese with Sausage and Bell Peppers that anyone can easily make in under forty-five minutes. This is a must-try recipe that’s perfect for busy days.

I have made this mac and cheese countless times, and this never fails to impress everyone around the table. This quickly became my family’s favourite rotation. I also shared this recipe with many of my friends and colleagues and received a lot of compliments. This mac and cheese smothered with marinara sauce and cream is no doubt for keeps!

If you are looking for an easy weeknight dinner that your entire family will enjoy, this is one of your best options! Super easy to whip up using only six ingredients and ready in no time!

Ingredients

8 ounces elbow macaroni, dry

2 bell peppers, diced

1 pound pork sausage

⅓ c. half and half

18 ounces water

⅓ c. mozzarella cheese

18 ounces marinara sauce

How to make Skillet Mac and Cheese with Sausage and Bell Peppers

Step 1: Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink. When done, drain the excess grease.

Step 2: To the skillet with the sausage, add the diced bell peppers, dried elbow macaroni, marinara sauce, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then decrease the heat. Put the lid on and simmer for approximately 20 minutes or until the macaroni is tender, stirring often.

Step 3: Pour in the half-and-half and sprinkle the cheese. Stir until well combined.

Step 4: Take the skillet off the heat when done. Cover and allow the mac and cheese to sit for about 2 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Notes:

Whisk a half cup of milk with a half cup of heavy cream (or heavy whipping cream) to make a cup of half-and-half.
