HOW TO MAKE SEAFOOD MAC AND CHEESE
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Wash, peel, and de-vein shrimp if needed. Or you can just buy peeled and deveined shrimps at the grocery to save time.
Step 3: Cook the macaroni. Follow the direction found in the package direction. Then, drain well using a sieve if available.
Step 4: Transfer the drained macaroni into a large mixing bowl.
Step 5: Stir in the sour cream until the noodles are well coated. This helps to even up the flavor.
Step 6: Then, add in the crab meat and stir well.
Step 7: Grab the green onions and chop finely. Grate the white cheddar cheese, then, the mozzarella cheese, and set aside.
Step 8: In a medium saucepan or skillet, melt the butter on low to medium heat. Add in the shrimps and cook while turning and stirring until almost done.
Step 9: Take the shrimps out of the pan and allow them to cool. Then, slightly chop the cooled shrimps and add them into the macaroni mixture.
Step 10: Saute the finely chopped onion in the pan until tender. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well. Cook and brown for a minute before gradually add in the milk while constantly stirring until the mixture starts to thicken.
Step 11: Slowly add in the grated Cheddar Cheese while constantly stirring until the cheese has melted. Then, pour the cheese mixture over the macaroni and seafood mixture. Mix well until incorporated. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.
Step 12: In a well-buttered baking dish, place the mixture and sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese on top.
Step 13: On top of the mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle the bread crumbs.
Step 14: Lightly sprinkle with paprika to add color.
Step 15: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
Step 16: Remove the seafood Mac and Cheese from the oven and serve warm. Enjoy!
NOTES:
Make sure to butter the baking dish well to ensure that the Seafood Mac and Cheese will not stick into the pan. Or you can use aluminum foil to line the pan. Not only that it’ll help to ensure that the dish will not stick but foil improves the heat efficiency inside the oven.
Use a variety of seafood as desired. And add another half cup of milk if you like a creamier mac and cheese.
