I love how people labelled this sausage, and cream cheese bites “donkey balls”. Everyone thought it’s a funny name and it is! But, hey, funny as it is, these bites are amazing! They are packed with fantastic flavour and the star of every party.

If you are looking for fun recipes to try. Then, you are in the right place! This easy donkey balls recipe is a must! They are the perfect game-day appetizer. Enjoy these bites plain or with a drizzle of maple syrup. You can even serve these with your preferred dipping sauce.

Ingredients

16 ounces Jimmy Dean Sausage 1 standard package

2 Packages Crescent Rolls

1 Medium Onion Diced

1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

8 ounces Cream Cheese room temperature

How to make Sausage & Cream Cheese Bites “Donkey Balls”

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees F.

Step 2: Cook the sausage in a saucepan along with the diced onion, and garlic powder until completely cooked, breaking the meat up as it cooks. Drain the excess grease when done and allow the sausage mixture to cool.

Step 3: To the sausage mixture, add the cream cheese and mix using a spoon until incorporated. Set aside.

Step 4: After opening the first crescent roll container, separate the first crescent then slice it in two to create two triangles.

Step 5: With a tsp of the sausage and cream cheese mixture, fill each triangle. Around the filling. Bring the sides of the crescent dough up. Pinch the sides to seal. Repeat with the remaining filling and crescents.

Step 6: On a cookie sheet, lay the filled crescents about 1-inch apart. Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and bake the donkey balls for about 11 to 14 minutes until the crescent is golden brown.

Step 7: Remove from the oven and serve the donkey balls right away either plain or drizzle with maple syrup. Enjoy with a dipping sauce, if desired.
