Sausage & Cream Cheese Bites “Donkey Balls”

by Rebecca April 7, 2021

Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook Time: 20 mins | Total Time: 35 mins | Servings: 40 bites

These bread bites are stuffed with sausage and cream cheese. Donkey balls, they call it. I thought it’s a funny name but it is not the name that put this into the map. Perfect for gatherings, as a game day appetizer, or a delicious little snack. Enjoy these as is with your choice of dip.

Ingredients

2 pkg Crescent Rolls

8 ounces Cream Cheese room temperature

16 ounces Jimmy Dean Sausage 1 standard package

1 Medium Onion Diced

1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

How to make Sausage & Cream Cheese Bites “Donkey Balls”

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees F.

Step 2: Cook the sausage, diced onion, and garlic powder in a saucepan until completely cooked through, breaking the sausage into pieces as it cooks.

Step 3: Drain the excess grease and let the sausage mixture cool.

Step 4: To the sausage mixture, add the cream cheese. Using a spoon, mix until well combined and set aside.

Step 5: After opening the first crescent rolls container, separate and cut in half to make two triangles.

Step 6: With a tsp of sausage and cream cheese mixture, fill each triangle. Up and around the filling, bring the sides of the crescent dough, pinching the ends together to seal. Repeat with the rest of the crescent rolls.

Step 7: Place the filled crescent dough on a cookie sheet about an inch apart from each other.

Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for about 11 to 14 minutes until golden brown.

Step 9: Serve as is or with a drizzle of maple syrup or other dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy!
