½ c. unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, pressed
1 lb. (16 oz.) dry pasta
3 c. heavy cream
¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes, optional
12 ounces fully cooked smoked sausage, sliced
1 ½ c. grated Parmesan cheese
1 ½ tsp kosher salt
½ tsp black pepper
How to make Sausage Alfredo Pasta
Step 1: Following the package directions, cook the pasta. Drain when done.
Step 2: In the meantime, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and saute for about 2 to 3 minutes or until the garlic starts to brown.
Step 3: Gradually add in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 8 to 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring often, until the sauce has thickened.
Step 4: Then, add the Parmesan cheese and if using, red pepper flakes followed by the sliced sausage. Stir well, then add this to the pot with drained pasta. Toss and serve. Enjoy!
Notes:
I suggest buying Parmesan cheese in blocks. Freshly grated cheese melts way better and faster than pre-shredded cheese.
For this recipe, you can use any kind of noodles.
If you want an extra kick, you can sprinkle a few more red pepper flakes on individual servings.
To add more heat, you can use spicy Italian Sausage.
