How to make Salisbury Steak
Hamburger Patties:
Step 1: Mix the ground beef with eggs, potato chips, dry mustard, garlic powder, and some salt and pepper using your hands until completely mixed. Then, shape the mixture into hamburger patties.
Step 2: Heat the oil and butter in a 12-inch skillet. Add the patties to the skillet and fry for about 5 minutes per side until no longer pink in the middle.
Step 3: Set the patties aside when done and drain the excess grease from the pan.
Gravy:
Step 4: Adjust the heat to medium and add the sliced onions to the now-empty pan. Stir and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes or until slightly tender and golden brown.
Step 5: Whisk the beef broth and the corn starch in a small bowl until well incorporated.
Step 6: To the onions, stir in the beef broth mixture and Worcestershire sauce. Allow the mixture to come to a boil until the sauce has reduced and thickened. Add more broth if the sauce turned out too thick.
Step 7: Add the cooked hamburger patties to the skillet and spoon the sauce over. Simmer for a few minutes until heated through.
