500 grams pork belly, around 1 lb
Honey water for brushing, 1 tbsp honey + 1 tbsp marinating sauce
2 garlic clove, sliced
1 spring onion
3-4 ginger slices
Sauce:
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon cooking wine
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
How to make Roasted Pork Belly with Honey
Step 1: Wash and drain the pork belly.
Step 2: Whisk the sauce ingredients: honey, cooking wine, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder, and ground white pepper in a large bowl.
Step 3: Add the pork belly to the sauce. Place inside the fridge and marinate for 24 to 48 hours.
Step 4: When ready to serve, prepare the oven. Preheat it to 200 degrees C.
Step 5: Whisk a tbsp honey with 1 tbsp marinade sauce in a small bowl.
Step 6: Brush with honey sauce on each side of the pork belly.
Step 7: Place in the preheated oven and roast for about 20 minutes.
Step 8: Turn the pork belly over, brush with honey sauce, and roast for 10 to 15 minutes more.
Step 9: Once done, remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
