This recipe used frozen ravioli instead of lasagna noodles and the result is mind-blowing! Extra cheesy, super flavorful, and each bite is satisfying. I opt for ricotta cheese because that’s how we like it but cottage cheese works perfectly as well. And the secret to this incredible lasagna? Spreading a thin layer of sauce in the bottom before assembling the lasagna. It guarantees to keep the pasta moist, keeps it from sticking to the bottom, and getting crunchy. This Ravioli Lasagna is not your usual lasagna but maybe even better and always a huge hit!
INGREDIENTS
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion diced
24 oz. marinara
3 cloves garlic minced
2 c. ricotta cheese
1 large Egg
¼ c. Parmesan cheese
¼ c. chopped parsley
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
25 oz. frozen cheese ravioli
2 c. shredded mozzarella
minced parsley for garnish
HOW TO MAKE RAVIOLI LASAGNA
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees. Using a non-stick spray, grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Add the ground beef and onion into a large skillet heated over medium heat. Cook the beef until brown, crumbling into pieces as it cooks. From the pan, drain the grease when done.
Step 3: To the same pan, add the marinara sauce and garlic. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes over low heat while stirring often.
Step 4: Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine the ricotta, egg, Parmesan, parsley, garlic powder, and onion powder. Into the prepared baking dish, spoon 1/3 of this and spread across the bottom of the dish. Then, top with one layer of ravioli, half of the ricotta mixture, and 1/3 of the sauce. Do the same layers, then finish off with the marinara sauce.
Step 5: On top, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella. Using foil, tightly cover the dish before placing it in the preheated oven and baking for about 40 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 10 minutes.
Step 6: Take the dish out of the oven when done and sprinkle it with minced garlic. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes, then slice. Serve and enjoy!
NOTES:
If desired, you can use ricotta instead of cottage cheese.
For this recipe, you can use your preferred variety of frozen ravioli.
