1 small green pepper diced
1 small yellow onion diced
6 sesame seed bakery hamburger buns
1 pound ground beef
2 to 4 tablespoons A1 sauce depending on how strong you want the flavour
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 c. beef broth
8 ounces cremini mushrooms diced
8 ounces provolone cheese sliced
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon salt
How to make Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
Step 1: Add the ground beef to a large skillet and cook it over medium heat until brown, breaking the meat apart as it cooks. Drain the grease when done.
Step 2: In the same skillet with the browned ground beef, add the onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. Continue to cook further until the onions are tender. This takes another 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 3: Stir the beef broth with cornstarch in another small bowl until well combined, and the lumps are gone. Pour this over the meat and stir to coat.
Step 4: To the skillet, add the ketchup along with the Worcestershire sauce, A1 sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and continue to cook for additional 5 minutes until most of the liquid has been absorbed. I suggest adding 2 tbsp of the A1 sauce in the beginning as it has a strong flavour and increases as you go if you want a bolder flavour.
Step 5: Turn the heat off. On top of the beef, add the sliced provolone cheese and let it melt.
Step 6: Enjoy the meat and cheese mixture on sesame seed hamburger buns!
