Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

by Rebecca October 18, 2021

Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 30 mins | Servings: 6

I love Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes! It has the perfect, irresistible combination of ground beef with vegetables and gooey cheese. If you have not tried this yet, you should because I am sure you’ll love this as much as we do! This 30-minute Sloppy joe is on its way to becoming your next weeknight favourite!

Ingredients

6 sesame seed bakery hamburger buns

1 pound ground beef

1 small green pepper diced

1 small yellow onion diced

2 to 4 tablespoons A1 sauce depending on how strong you want the flavour

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 c. beef broth

8 ounces provolone cheese sliced

8 ounces cremini mushrooms diced

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

How to make Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Step 1: Add the ground beef to a large skillet. Cook over medium heat, breaking the meat apart until brown. When done, drain the grease.

Step 2: To the skillet, add the beef along with the onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. Continue to cook for another 5 to 7 minutes or until the onions are soft.

Step 3: Place the beef broth and cornstarch in another small bowl. Whisk until incorporated and the lumps are gone. Pour this over the meat, then stir to coat the meat.

Step 4: To the skillet, add the ketchup followed by the Worcestershire sauce, A1 sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well and allow to cook for another 5 minutes until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Note that the A1 sauce has a strong flavour, so I suggest adding 2 tbsp. Increase as you go if you want bolder flavour.

Step 5: Turn the heat off, then add the sliced provolone cheese over the beef. Let it melt.

Step 6: When done, enjoy the meat and cheese mixture on sesame seed hamburger buns.
