1 lb lean ground beef
2 tbsp butter
1 small yellow onion diced
1 small green bell pepper diced
8 oz. brown mushrooms minced
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 c. beef broth
8 oz. Provolone Cheese Slices chopped (if you don’t want it very cheesy use 6 ounces instead)
6 brioche hamburger buns
How to make Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes
Step 1: To a large cast-iron skillet, add the ground beef. Cook until a deep crust forms on about fifty per cent or so of the beef. Set the ground beef aside when done, leaving the fat in the skillet.
Step 2: To the same skillet, add the butter, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook for about a minute or two before stirring. Continue to cook for another 1 to 2 minutes, then stir again.
Step 3: Place the beef back to the pan.
Step 4: Whisk the beef broth and cornstarch in a small cup.
Step 5: To the pan, add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, beef broth/cornstarch mixture. Continue to cook for 3 to 5 minutes more until most of the liquid is gone.
Step 6: Turn the heat off before adding in the provolone cheese.
Step 7: Enjoy toasted brioche buns.
