Sloppy Joes Have been part of my life since childhood. My mom used to make it using canned sauce, but this recipe will make you forget your childhood canned sauce memories for good! The best part is, this is incredibly easy and quick to throw together. If you have been looking for another recipe to try and you also love Sloppy Joes like me, this recipe is a must and for keeps! Tastes exactly like Philly Cheesesteak, and leftovers are even better!

2 tbsp butter
1 lb lean ground beef
1 small green bell pepper diced
1 small yellow onion diced
8 oz. brown mushrooms minced
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 c. beef broth
6 brioche hamburger buns
8 oz. Provolone Cheese Slices chopped (use 6 ounces if you don’t want it very cheesy)
1/2 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
How to make Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes
Step 1: To a large cast-iron skillet, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking the meat apart as it cooks. Stir and cook further until deep crust appears on about 50 or so per cent of the beef. Set the beef aside, leaving the fat in the skillet.
Step 2: In the now-empty skillet, add the butter, onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook for about a minute or two before stirring. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes, then stir again. Return the beef to the pan.
Step 3: Whisk the beef broth and cornstarch in a small cup until well blended. Add this to the pan along with the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
Step 4: Continue to cook for 3 to 5 minutes more until about 75 per cent of the mixture is above the liquid.
Step 5: Turn the heat off, then add the provolone cheese. Serve right away on toasted brioche buns. Enjoy!
