Sloppy Joes are a must at home. And this recipe will make you say no to canned sauce again! Super easy to throw together and ready in less than thirty minutes. Serve these crowd-pleasing sloppy Joes on toasted brioche buns with your favourite side, such as chips, fries, pasta, etc., for an easy dinner that your family will surely ask for again and again!

Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef

2 tbsp butter

1 small yellow onion diced

1 small green bell pepper diced

8 oz. brown mushrooms minced

2 tbsp ketchup

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp Kosher salt

1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper

1 tbsp cornstarch

1 c. beef broth

8 oz. Provolone Cheese Slices chopped (use 6 ounces if you don’t want it very cheesy)

6 brioche hamburger buns

How to make Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes

Step 1: To a large cast-iron skillet, add the ground beef and cook until about 50% or so of the beef formed a deep brown crust, breaking the meat apart as it cooks. Transfer the beef to a plate, leaving the grease in the skillet.

Step 2: To the skillet, add the butter. Melt and add the onions and bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook for about a minute or two, then stir and continue to cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes before stirring again.

Step 3: Return the beef to the skillet.

Step 4: Whisk a cup of beef broth with cornstarch in a small cup until well mixed.

Step 5: Add the ketchup along with the Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, beef broth/cornstarch mixture to the skillet. Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes until around 75% of the mixture is over the liquid. Then, turn the heat off and add the provolone cheese.

Step 6: Serve the sloppy Joes on toasted brioche buns. Enjoy!
