PECAN PIE BALLS

by Rebecca November 6, 2020

Yields: 24 balls

These pecan pie balls are so fun to make, perfectly sweet, and a real treat not only for the kids but for everybody! Make sure to whip up a bunch because all will be asking for more than a piece.

Packed these babies in cute boxes, attach personalized notes, and give these to friends, colleagues, and loved ones. I am pretty sure they will love and enjoy every bit of this tasty treat.

Ingredients

2 1/2 c pecans, toasted and chopped

1 c graham crackers, crushed (you can also use vanilla wafers or Oreos)

1 c brown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 tsp salt (optional)

2 tbsp maple syrup

1/4 c bourbon, brandy or spiced rum, for a non-alcoholic version: use almond extract, rum extract, or any other that may suit your taste, add a bit of water or juice equal to the amount of liquid

1 tsp vanilla

7 oz dark chocolate bark or white chocolate

1 tsp coarse sea salt (optional)

HOW TO MAKE PECAN PIE BALLS

Step 1: Use parchment paper to line 2 cookie sheets.

Step 2: Combine the graham crackers, pecans, brown sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl until well mixed.

Step 3: Stir in the bourbon, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.

Step 4: Using your hands, form small balls and place them to the prepared cookie sheet.

Step 5: Place inside the freezer to set for at least 2 hours.

Step 6: Microwave the chocolate until completely melted.

Step 7: In the melted chocolate, dip the balls and put them on the second cookie sheet.

Step 8: Over the coated balls, sprinkle a bit of salt. Place in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.

Step 9: When ready to serve. Take the pecan pie balls out of the freezer and serve. Enjoy!
