PREP TIME: 10 mins | COOK TIME: 25 mins | TOTAL TIME: 35 mins | SERVINGS: 5

For a quick weeknight meal, this one-pan wonder is your best option. A great companion for busy weeknights with smoked sausage and pasta in a spicy, creamy sauce. This easy Cheesy Smoked Sausage Pasta Skillet got it all in a single pan – savoury, melty cheese, aromatic, and scrumptious!

INGREDIENTS

1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 lb Smoked Turkey Sausage sliced

1 c. diced onion about 1 medium onion

1 tbsp minced garlic about 2-3 fresh cloves

2 c. chicken broth

1 10-oz. can diced tomatoes (with or without chiles) (like Rotel)

1/2 c. milk or heavy cream

8 oz. dry pasta like rotini, penne or farfalle

salt and pepper to taste

1 c. shredded Cheddar-Jack cheese

1/3 c. sliced scallions for garnish

HOW TO MAKE ONE PAN CHEESY SMOKED SAUSAGE PASTA SKILLET

Step 1: To a 5-quart saute pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the onions and sausage to the pan and cook until lightly browned. Add in the garlic and continue to cook for 30 seconds more.

Step 2: To the pan, add the chicken broth, tomatoes (undrained), milk, pasta, and seasonings. Bring to a boil, cover the pan with a lid, then adjust the heat to low. Let the mixture simmer until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. This takes about 15 minutes.

Step 3: Turn the heat off before stirring in half a cup of cheese. On top, sprinkle the rest of the cheese and cover the pan. Let the cheese melt for approximately 5 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle the scallions on top. Optional, you can turn the oven to broil for a few minutes to allow the cheese to melt.

NOTE:

If there is still a good deal of liquid, spoon some out, then add the cheese. To create the sauce, you need some liquid so don’t spoon out everything.
