3 cloves garlic, chopped
1/4 c. hot sauce (or to taste)
1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
1/3 c. beer, wine, or broth
2 tbsp lemon juice (1/2 lemon)
2 tsp creole seasoning
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tbsp butter, chilled and cut into 1/2” pieces
salt to taste
How to make New Orleans BBQ Shrimp
Step 1: In a pan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the garlic to the pan. Saute the garlic for about 30 seconds until aromatic. Add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, beer, lemon juice, creole seasoning, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until the sauce has reduced by half.
Step 2: To the sauce, add the shrimp and cook both sides for about 2 to 3 minutes until cooked through, Keep in mind that the cooking time depends on the size of the shrimp.
Step 3: Adjust the heat to medium-low, then stir in the chilled butter until melted. To taste, season with salt.
Step 4: Serve with french bread to soak up the tasty sauce. Enjoy!
Notes:
You can serve the shrimps in the shell with heads or make it easier for everyone and just remove the shells.
Start by adding a little hot sauce and adjust from there.
Add little creole seasonings at a time until you reached your desired level of saltiness.
To thicken the sauce, you can add cornstarch mixed in cold water instead of simmering the sauce to save time.
If desired, garnish with sliced green onions or chopped parsley before serving.
