1 tbsp dairy-free butter
1 sheet puff pastry vegan, they come two a package just keep in the freezer
½ c. Walnuts chopped
4 oz. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
How to make Mother’s Chocolate Strudel
Step 1: Defrost the sheet of puff pastry. Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir, and microwave for additional 30 seconds.
Step 2: To the melted chocolate, add the dairy-free butter and heat in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir and microwave at 15-second intervals if needed, then stir until glossy.
Step 3: On a lightly floured surface, roll the puff pastry sheet to around a 12-inch square.
Step 4: To about half an inch from the edge of the puff pastry, spread the chocolate and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Begin rolling the pastry like jelly.
Step 5: On an ungreased baking sheet, place the roll, seam-side down. Slightly fold the end under, then create 6 diagonal slits along the top.
Step 6: Place in the preheated 375 degrees oven and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes.
Step 7: Before serving, lightly sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy!
