8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. cottage cheese
¼ c. sour cream
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
26 oz. spaghetti sauce (1 jar)
How to make Million Dollar Casserole (Spaghetti Casserole)
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Following the package directions, cook the noodles.
Step 3: In the meantime, combine the cream cheese with sour cream, and cottage cheese in a medium-sized bowl until smooth.
Step 4: In a large skillet, place the ground beef and cook until no longer pink and cooked through. When done, drain the excess grease.
Step 5: Over the meat, pour the spaghetti sauce, and toss to coat.
Step 6: Using cooking spray, grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Step 7: At the bottom of the prepared dish, layer half of the cooked noodles. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the noodles, evenly spreading it around. Over the cheese mix layer, layer the remaining noodles to cover the pan, then top with the sliced butter.
Step 8: Pour the red meat sauce over, making sure to completely cover the noodles.
Step 9: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, uncovered. Remove the casserole from the oven after 30 minutes and top with cheddar cheese. Continue to bake for additional 15 minutes.
Note:
You might need to add about 50% to the cooking time if cooking the casserole from frozen and decrease the oven temperature by 25 degrees F. So the top doesn’t get too brown quickly, tent the casserole with aluminium foil. Alternately, you can thaw the casserole before baking.
