These are great for a cookie exchange, too, or to bring to a potluck, or to serve to guests. Simple yet have all the right flavour and texture that just cracks in your mouth. 2 c all-purpose flour
2 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp shortening
1/8 tsp baking soda
1 c + 2 tablespoons buttermilk
1/2 c oil
HOW TO MAKE MELT IN YOUR MOUTH BUTTERMILK BISCUITS
Step 1: Sift the baking powder, flour, and salt in a medium mixing bowl.
Step 2: Stir in the shortening until well combined.
Step 3: Mix the buttermilk and baking soda in a small mixing bowl until incorporated. Shift this into the flour mixture and mix until combined.
Step 4: Sprinkle with flour a flat surface. Place the dough and roll it to around 1/4-inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter to slice the dough into squares.
Step 5: Into the oil, dip each biscuit and transfer on a greased baking sheet.
Step 6: Bake in the oven for about 8 to 10 minutes at 500 degrees F or until brown.
