MAPLE TWIST COOKIES

These pretty and delicious maple twist cookies are always a huge hit. A star at any cookie sale. Crispy, Chewy cookies that are addictingly tasty! A sweet treat that everyone loves and enjoys.

Ingredients

FILLING:

5 c walnuts chopped in a blender

1 stick butter (room temperature)

1/3 c brown sugar

1/4 tsp maple flavouring (or use vanilla)

DOUGH:

4 c flour

4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2/3 c butter

1/2 c sugar

2 Eggs, beaten

1 1/2 c raisins

1 c milk

ICING (MEASUREMENTS ARE APPROXIMATE):

1 c powdered sugar

2 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla

HOW TO MAKE MAPLE TWIST COOKIES

Step 1: Add the walnuts, butter, sugar, and maple flavouring in a large mixing bowl. Mix well until combined and set aside.

Step 2: Place the baking powder, flour, and salt in a different mixing bowl.

Step 3: And the butter and sugar in another. Beat until well mixed before adding in the eggs and raisins. Continue to beat until incorporated.

Step 4: Add the flour mixture into the butter mixture and beat until well mixed.

Step 5: On a floured surface, place the dough and shape into a ball. Slice the dough into four.

Step 6: Roll and form one piece of dough into a 5 x 12 rectangle.

Step 7: On the bottom, add 1/4 of the filling and fold the sides over the filling. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and lightly flatten the filled dough. Slice it into inch pieces (make 12).

Step 8: Twist and put onto the cookie sheets.

Step 9: Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees F or until brown.

Step 10: Once done, remove from the oven and let the cookies cool at room temperature.

Step 11: Before serving, top the cookies with icing, Enjoy!
