2 c. heavy cream
1 deep dish frozen pie crust
3/4 c. sugar
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp maple extract
1/4 c. pure maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
4 tbsp cornstarch
Topping:
3 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
How to make Maple Sugar Cream Pie
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 325 degrees F. In a standard pie dish, lay the crust. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 to 12 minutes or until the crust is just lightly browned. Set the crust aside when done.
Step 2: Melt 4 tbsp butter in a medium saucepan with heavy cream over medium heat until the butter has melted. Then, stir in the cornstarch and sugar. Heat for about 6 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture has thickened. Next, add the maple syrup along with the maple extract, vanilla extract, and salt (if using). Mix well until blended.
Step 3: Into the pie crust, pour the filling. On top, drizzle the rest of the melted butter.
Step 4: To make the topping, combine the rest of the topping ingredients (sugar and cinnamon) until combined, then sprinkle this over the filling.
Step 5: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. The pie is done once the center is set, but still slightly wobbly.
Step 6: Take the pie out of the oven when done and allow this to cool. Place the pie in the fridge for about 2 to 3 hours until set.
Step 7: Before serving, slice the pie. Enjoy!
