These M & M Cookie Bars are the perfect treat for any occasion. I used green and red M & M’s for the holidays and red for Valentine’s. Swap the colours of the M & M’s depending on the occasion or your taste. The kids love these bars so much it quickly made to our top list of dessert. Thick and chewy cookie bars made with only seven ingredients that you can make in a breeze.
The last time I made these cookie bars I tried to swap M & M’s with nuts and it turned out amazing! You can even add both M & M’s and nuts if you’d like. So if you want a no-fuss treat that your kids will treasure forever, these cookie bars are perfect!
Ingredients
1/2 c. softened salted butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 Egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. red and green M&M’s
How to make M & M Cookie Bars!
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Using aluminium foil, line an 8 x 8-inch baking pan and grease with a non-stick cooking spray.
Step 3: Add the butter and sugar to a large mixing bowl. Beat until light and fluffy. Add in the egg, peanut butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
Step 4: Beat in the flour until a thick dough forms, then, fold in a cup of M&M’s.
Step 5: Into the prepared baking pan, press the cookie dough and press the remaining M&M’s on top.
Step 6: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes. Take out of the oven once done and allow the bar to cool. To remove from the pan, lift the aluminium foil. Slice into nine squares and very carefully run a knife on the sides.
