How to make Lemon Cream Cheese Bars
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C. And with aluminium foil, line the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, then grease with cooking spray.
Step 2: Into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, press a can of crescent roll dough. Make sure to stretch the edges so they will fit into the dish.
Step 3: In a bowl, whisk the zest of 1 1/2 lemons and juice from 2 lemons. Into the zest mixture, beat the cream cheese and half a cup of sugar using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Then, spread this on top of the crescent roll dough layer.
Step 4: Layer over the cream cheese mixture another can of a crescent roll dough, stretching the edges of the dough gently. On top, brush the melted butter.
Step 5: In a bowl, whisk the rest of the lemon zest and 3 tbsp sugar. Sprinkle this on top of the butter.
Step 6: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool for at least 20 minutes. Using the foil, lift the dessert from the baking dish and place it on a cutting board. Cut the bar into squares. Place the dessert back to the baking dish and chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
